“foolish mortal—
so lost in the world,”
as if it was not you,
my god,
who put us
in this heavy world
of mortal things.
as if you,
oh, my god,
did not tell us
to carry the weight of it.
i am in this world,
with the heaviest rain clouds
that obscure your face.
why do i imagine it
sneering?
